NYC Christmas Apartment Tour on the Upper East Side

Every year I try to remember to do a little photoshoot in our apartment to remember the holidays… And this year was a little bit later than the last. ( Here is last year’s post and here’s from our first apartment.)

2015 has been a huge and crazy year. New apartment in April, new rescue pup in May, wedding in September. It feels really good that things calmed down enough so that I could focus on making holiday crafts. πŸ˜›

In terms of NYC apartments, this one is a bit odd because it is a duplex. Finding an apartment in this city, especially in Manhattan, is incredibly stressful, fast-paced, and expensive. When our broker showed us this place with the weird stairs, double balcony, and dog-friendly landlord, I thought it was almost too good to be true. (Someday we might have luxuries like a dishwasher or a washing machine in our house. \o/ Right now I’ll settle for Central Park.)

As an extra note, I think we’re at a place in our apartment where the tally of furniture we scavenged from the sidewalk is even with the furniture we’ve dragged back from Indiana.

This year I made stockings for Sean, Pimm, and me. I still have some beadwork to do on the human stockings but they’re close to being done. I wanted to model our stockings off of the DIY dog cake toppers I made for our wedding. πŸ™‚ Over Halloween I spent WAY too many hours looking through all of the patterns on Fabric.com to find the perfect prints.

This Scandinavia map is still one of my favorite wall hangings. Sean’s brother bought it for me in an Indiana Goodwill for $1.

This cardboard house with a pinecone roof was one of my holiday crafts this year. I asked Sean’s sister to bring down pinecones when she came from Rhode Island for Thanksgiving and we spent all day making houses while Sean cooked Thanksgiving dinner. πŸ™‚

We’ve done some serious rearranging of dishes since this photo was taken and added one more shelf above the cabinet.

Here’s to 2016 being full of more crafts, sewing, puppies, and a slower pace of life. <3 πŸ™‚
