One of the things that I love most about living in New York City is our ability to go to so many different places and experience so many experiences in just a short train trip away. From hiking trips to Coney Island treks, Adele, Sean, and I have already been to so many places around New York since we started living here.
This past weekend we took the Metro North up to Beacon, NY. Beacon is an artsy little town right on the Hudson. Sean, Adele, and I intended to go to Dia: Beacon, a famous contemporary art museum in the town, but we got there a little too late and missed out on it. ๐ (Guess we’ll have to go check it out later!)
There is something so awesome and refreshing about leaving the city to breathe some fresh air and view landscapes that aren’t cityscapes. Every time we leave the city, though, I am reminded of the magnitude of NYC. Sometimes you forget how colossal something is until you’re looking at it out of a train window. ๐
I definitely recommend a trip up to Beacon even if you can’t visit the art museum. There are little art shops, thrift shops, and antique stores on Main Street– but it is the strangest Main Street I’ve ever seen. I spent a significant amount of time wondering how some of the niche businesses could survive in this tiny town.
A building built INTO the river. ๐
We stopped in to see an art exhibit of Native American art in an old library.
Back to the city! ๐ If you ever get a chance to go up to Beacon, it’s pretty cool. (And all the fall colors… sheesh. Incredible.) Also, there is *seriously* the best coffee shop I’ve ever been in there. It’s called Bank and they also serve beer at night. (Pumpkin beer @ $2 a glass!!) Why more coffee shops don’t do this, I don’t know. ๐
Que interessante ver como รฉ uma cidade que possivelmente nunca visitarei!
Obrigada!
