These days some of my favorite crafts have had to do with our tiny NYC apartment as opposed to crafting up my clothes. π I’ve decided to start a little blog series on the progression of our apartment and give little tours when the rooms feel more complete. First up– the chevron doors.
I originally found the idea to do these chevron doors on Pinterest, of course. My “For the Home” board seems to be getting a lot of use these days. π These doors are a really good (and easy) way to update your apartment if you don’t want to do anything permanent. (The two photos above are from this blog.)
And my doors. The first door is the bathroom door, the second door is Adele’s bedroom.
The doors before:
What you need:
Electrical tape. And maybe a bit of mailing tape. To get your chevrons to look right, you need to measure equal heights down from the top of the door and measure up from the bottom of the door. Then mark it with a pencil and make your tape meet at the middle dot. Your angles will be the same if you do it this way. You can also tape down the tops of the chevrons so that they don’t peel off the door.
We used two layers of electrical tape for the main chevron and then one layer of tape for the outer chevron.
…With matching curtains + roommate. π
I'm pretty sure your apartment is the coolest thing ever…. I've never been to NY but it's on my list as the #1 place I want to visit and so looking through your blog is so much fun. Can't wait to get my computer back, and my camera out. Very inspiring. π
Awh Lindsay you are too kind!! You should definitely come visit NY– it's a crazy place. π
