Good thing I made these the other day because today the clouds are dumping an enormous amount of snow over NYC! There is an actual blizzard warning. I don’t remember the last time I had one of those.
So I went running in the park this morning and I was so surprised– the NY Parks Department had cleared the sidewalks and paths better than the road crews had cleared the streets! There were tons of little kids and their parents sledding in the park and there were stations with hot cocoa, snowman villages, and cones set up for sled races! There were even signs hung around the park with “SNOW DAY: New York Parks Dept. on them. I’ve never seen such an organized snow day in my entire life in Indiana– but then again I usually went sledding at my church’s hill or with my dog in the backyard.
Whiteout much? It’s been like this all day!
Back to my earmuffs– I’ve been seeing these furry earmuffs around the city and I never can find any in a store. Finally I found a pair but they were 40$. I didn’t really want to spend that much. Soo…
I bought a cheap $4 pair of earmuffs from Chinatown…
And then I bought some faux fur from the Fabric Garden store in the fashion district. I’ve been looking around for fabric stores all month and I was reading Time Out: New York and I saw this article:
… about Leanne Marshall from Project Runway!
So Leanne recommended Fabric Garden and said it was cheaper than Mood, where PR does their shopping, and she was right. 🙂 BUT– there were lots of other little textile stores that were having HUGE sales so I got some SWEET fabric in another store as well as the faux fur… more on that later though. 😉
Here is a tutorial on how to make the earmuffs!
Bit windy. I am a bit glad it will still be cold for a week so that I can wear my fuzzy earmuffs!
