I rarely post plain old outfit shots, but this coat is too darn cool to leave hanging on the coat rack. I always think it is really cool when high art needles its way into fashion. Unfortunately this coat is actually my mom’s, but I can “borrow” it.
When I first saw this coat, it immediately reminded me of the Dutch artist Mondrian’s paintings. After I did a bit of internet scrounging, I learned that Yves Saint Laurent actually designed a Mondrian-inspired dress in the 1960s.
The Yves Saint Laurent dress and a Mondrian painting.
The coat’s brand is “Herman Kay” and it was made in the Dominican Republic. From what I can find online, I don’t think there is anything that special about the designer– it is just a really cool-looking coat. 🙂
that coat is just amazing! i love it 🙂
