A few months back, I was approached by a friend of a friend to be a part of a new company in the that was getting ready to launch in the DIY world called Darby Smart. My task was to create another version of the magazine clutch that I made a while back as part of a kit to sell at an affordable price.
(The Mashable article about Darby Smart’s launch. Read about it on All Things D as well.)
One thing I love about startups like Darby Smart, For the Makers, and The Blueprint Social is that they’ve recognized the way the big craft stores and companies have been doing business on the Internet is old-fashioned and clunky. Whether these new startups are providing affordable kits, beautifully-curated projects, or new ways to expose people to new products, there’s something changing in the DIY business and I love it.
