Last weekend we had a gigantic blizzard here in NYC. While I miss the raging summer thunderstorms of Indiana on occasion, I love how snowstorms make me slow down and stay in one spot for the afternoon. Below I documented what Sean and I did over the weekend to remember the loveliness of this blizzard. 🙂
To do #1. Get someone to make you a big brunch.
Sean made rhubarb Dutch babies after we trekked out to the grocery. Bless you Whole Foods for stocking rhubarb in January.
2. Make a teeny flight of boozy snow cones. (NPR said it was safe. Probably as safe as making pine liqueur from your Christmas tree. :))
Below: Chambord + dill snow cone, limoncello + mint snow cone, violet liqueur + orange snow cone, Aperol + thyme snow cone. (Tip: use an eye dropper to distribute a ~tablespoon of liqueur on each snowball.)
3. Take lots of photos of the fluffy natural disaster’s progress to remember for years to come.
4. Snuggle with your dog on the couch.
5. Make Moscow Mules with snow and dill.
6. Better yet, serve a flight of shrimp cocktail on a bed of fresh snow.
7. The next morning, in that day-after-blizzard magic sun, put some booties on your dog to protect her feet from the salt…
And let her forgive you for the booties with some squirrel chasing in Central Park. <3
PS– This past weekend we had the 2nd biggest blizzard in NYC history. I was also here for the first biggest in 2010 when I was an intern at CBS Sunday Morning. 🙂
