Technically this isn’t a new DIY since this dress was one of the first things that I ever posted on this little blog when my Nikon and I were just getting to know each other, (;)) but I never put up the entire tutorial! In the beginning of my blog days, I used to post all of my tutorials over on Cut Out + Keep, one of my favorite crafting communities. (By the way, Cut Out + Keep just celebrated their 100,000th member! Holy cow that’s a lot of crafters. Congrats to Cat and the rest of the team. :))
This dress is special to me in many ways because it was my first big blog project, I wore it in a trashion show, and holy Moses it took me forever to make. Today it feels more like an art project than a wearable piece– the textures and the colors make it really stand out in the crowd. π
I don’t even want to know how much thread I used on this dress. A LOT. π If anyone is having a bit of trouble, this is the original flower tutorial that inspired me to make this dress.
Such a beautiful dress, a really clever idea!

Good morning! You're blog was recommended by my friend Amy from Mod Podge Rocks so I figured I'd better come over and see. Oh my, I'm so glad I did! This dress is AMAZING! Gorgeous! Do you find people want to touch the dress? (that could be odd, haha) Because I would! It's a textural piece of art! Can't wait to explore the rest of your site!

i love this dress , you are brilliant , it is beautiful and looks like a high end couture ress , i love it
first amazing job! second thank you for posting the how-to. i am actually going to make 2 duvet covers for my little girls' new big girl room bunk beds using this technique. did you use all knit fabrics on the dress? does it wash and dry (in a drier) well? i'm going to use whites (tshirts, knit/jersey/fleece from the fabric store) so i can easily oxiclean or bleach out any stains my girls will create.
Hey Melissa! Thank you so much for your kind words! I love the idea for a duvet cover out of these! I did use all knit fabrics on the flowers. π I've never put the dress in the washer, I've always hand-washed it. π
Hope your day is going well!
beautiful.
That's so cool! I like how it's interesting from far away and up close.
Way beyond my fabric handling capabilities (seriously, a bad home ec experience in high school that left me scarred), but this dress is fabulous!
