Even though I never really made my friends friendship bracelets during the summer, they always evoke warm, bar-b-que-y feelings in me. One reason might be rooted in the fact that one of my friends used to work at this summer camp in California. Each time he came back to Indiana from his adventures in “The Golden State,” all four of his limbs would be covered in friendship bracelets. π Another reason colorful bracelets symbolize summer to me might come from my time as a day camp counselor at Kickapoo Kids Camp. Both summers I worked there, we had to ban those dratted Silly Bandz because kids encased their arms in them like ninja arm guards, saving them for later when it came time to rubber-band-flick their neighbors. Since these experiences, whenever I see a group of colorful bracelets on someone, I immediately feel a wave of summer. β₯β₯β₯
Now that I’ve graduated and I’ve got a real job, and those summer vacations are ooover, I wanted to bring a little bit of summer back into my, well, summer. So I made the above bracelet. π
How to make a rainbow friendship bracelet:
You need:
1.Leather cording (A little over 2 feet.) 2.Paint 3.A bead. 4.Fabric Mod Podge
Start by tying the knots. You need to fold your cording in half and make a little loop in the middle. (Make sure the loop is a good size to fit around the bead– not too big or too small.) Then take the ends of your cording and tie knots on both ends of your bead. Then you can start painting little strips on the leather!
Finish the bracelet off by sealing the paint with a bit of Fabric Mod Podge. This stuff is so great because it is a wonderful sealant that will prevent your paint from chipping off– and it’s flexible! Such great stuff. π
I love friendship bracelets and this is such a cute fun way of doing it. So unique! Thanks for sharing!

I love this idea! I have had trouble finding leather lace. Where did you buy yours?
The leather cording is at stores like JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels. I'm pretty sure mine came from Walmart, though! Don't hold me to that– the craft stores will definitely have it. π Hope that helps!
so easy!!thank you for this lovely idea!!
It's absolutely gorgeous! I would LOVE to see a tutorial of this… hint hint π
The bracelets are awesome, but my question is…where'd you get the ring? It's gorgeous!
Ahaha! Thanks Jennilyn!! My mom actually gave me this ring when I graduated from high school. I think she got it at Macy's! π
What a cool idea. I have lots of that type leather that I can use. Thanks.
